I come from a family of seamstresses-both of my grandmothers made beautiful heirloom sewing and needlework projects and my mother was a seamstress and quilter. In fact, I still have baby gowns my grandmother made for my father and uncle from the turn of the last century.
In high school I fell in love with not only sewing but designing my own patterns.
After having my one & only daughter I received “Sewing Classic Clothes For Children” by Kitty Benton. That is where I discovered smocking and have loved it ever since!
I demonstrated smocking and taught some classes at Hale Farm & Village, a living 18th century museum in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. As my daughter grew out of smocking (& has helped me with graphic design for all of my pattern covers and this website!) I switched to smocking for others. The designs that I had only dreamed over the years are now available for purchase!
